Christmas in Guatemala and Albania

Over the last couple of weeks, the Christmas presentations and parties have been taking place in all 13 of our programmes in Guatemala and Albania.

In Albania the children have been practising their nativity performances and songs for many weeks and it was wonderful to see their enthusiasm as they brought the story of Christmas alive for those watching.  After a special Christmas meal, all the children received a gift of a pillow and a towel.

In Guatemala it was the Living Water/Adopt-A-Child team who, encouraged by LWI Missionary Steve McDaniel to throw themselves into the spirit of Christmas, dressed up and performed for the children at specially arranged Christmas parties at each of the programmes.  Much of the fun and games took place outside and in Zone 5 of Guatemala City we used a local park for the event.  The children all received sweets and a gift bag and there were special prizes to be won for the games, including a large food hamper and a bicycle at each of the events.

The most important thing at all these events is to bring the true meaning of Christmas to the children and their families and to show the love of God in practical ways.  Many children come forward to give their lives to the Lord at these events – which is wonderful to see and makes it all worth while.

Thanks to all of you who have contributed to the Christmas celebrations for the children this year – we would not be able to do these without your generous support and prayers.
